A prayer vigil was held Wednesday night for a New Jersey woman who was shot in the head in Nashville near her college campus.

Jillian Ludwig, 18, is a graduate of Wall High School and a freshman at Belmont University. She was struck by a stray bullet while she was walking at a park near her campus.

Many in her hometown are praying for the teen who is fighting for her life miles away from home.

Police say 29-year-old Shaquille Taylor is being held on charges of aggravated assault and evidence tampering for the Tuesday afternoon shooting that critically injured Ludwig.

According to Nashville police, Ludwig was walking on a track in a park located across from where Taylor was standing when he opened fire on a car. According to police, one of Taylor’s shots allegedly struck Ludwig in the head. Residents in her Wall Township community are praying for a miracle.

Amy Sentner is a 25-year friend of the Ludwig family.

"Jess and Matt are dear friends of mine, and I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now with their daughter’s life on the line for a senseless act of inhumanity,” she says.

Sebastian Trowbridge from Wall Township said, "It’s saddening that this had happened. I’m glad we were able to come out here together in support of her.”

Ludwig is said to be in extremely critical condition.
